FAQ

The decision to conduct the theory course (both express and regular courses) online is driven by multiple factors that prioritize student learning, convenience, and adaptability to the changing landscape of music education. With the ABRSM theory exam having transitioned to a permanent online format, students must be well-equipped and adept at handling various questions and scenarios in the digital platform. In this regard, online theory courses have become more relevant and valuable.

Our teachers hold Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Additionally, they have more than 10 years of teaching experience.

The main difference between the express and regular course is how each topic is taught. In regular course, student learns all topics in one grade but only partially for each topic. For example in time signature, Grade 1 covers only 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4. Student will only learn 2/2, 3/2, 4/2 and 3/8 in Grade 2, and a little bit more in Grade 3 and so on. Only until Grade 5 then student will learn the complete time signature.

In express course, we will go by topics across the 5 grades. For example in time signature, we will learn the complete time signatures in one go instead of learning bits by bits. This will save time and help student retain the information of the particular topic better. This accelerated timeline allows students with less free time to still achieve ABRSM Grade 5 Theory Exam. The difference between group and individual courses is the amount of attention each student receives. In group courses, there are two students in the same class, so the teacher must divide their attention among all of them. This can benefit some students who prefer to work at their own pace and enjoy the support of other classmates. However, it also means that each student may not get as much individual instruction as they might need.

In contrast, one-on-one lessons provide a more personalized learning experience tailored to the student’s individual needs. The teacher has full focus on that particular student, which allows them to go deeper into topics or address specific areas where a student needs extra help.

Overall, both group and individual courses have advantages and disadvantages; the teacher will decide for the students who pass the free assessment which course is the most suitable for them. Group classes are subject to availability.

Still, we acknowledge that life sometimes presents unexpected obstacles, and we understand when students cannot complete work on time. Nevertheless, if a student consistently misses homework assignments, they may have to be dropped from the program and the student will need to switch to the regular course. Any remaining credits will be used for the regular course.

We compiled grade 1-5 materials into an express course by carefully selecting only the most important topics for each level and developing them into engaging and interactive lessons.

Furthermore, the teachers took into account relevant feedback from previous courses and exams and any changes or updates that needed to be applied to the course material. This enabled them to create an express course that was up-to-date and comprehensive. The result is a course that provides students with all the necessary knowledge to succeed in their online exams.
